Casa

Our individualized Casa program helps each child develop physically, emotionally and cognitively at their own pace. The Casa curriculum builds self-esteem, independence, physical development, and fosters a child’s natural love of learning. The three-year age grouping fosters a collaborative learning environment where younger students benefit from their older peers, who, in turn, take on leadership roles and offer peer mentoring. This approach cultivates cohesive social communities within each classroom.

8:45am – 3:45pm – Monday to Friday

The Casa program is available for children ages 2.5/3-6 years old. Montessori classrooms are set up as a prepared environment, designed to stimulate interest and exploration. Children receive personalized Montessori lessons, utilizing materials that connect abstract concepts with rich sensorial experiences. This method actively involves their hands and minds, emphasizing manipulation over passive observation.

Classrooms are divided into five key areas: • Practical Life • Sensorial • Math • Language • Culture

Children are free to explore and work in each area. As they become engaged in purposeful activities, they begin to develop concentration, attention to detail, and self-discipline. Lessons on grace, courtesy, and respect for others and the environment, are an integral part of the program.

Stirling Montessori Academy provides an enriched reading and writing program, starting at 2.5 years old, capitalizing on children’s natural language-learning abilities. Through a phonetic approach to reading, daily Montessori material practice, and at-home reading, we nurture early development for strong readers. Our weekly specialty classes in French, Music, and Movement add a well-rounded dimension to the learning experience.

Curriculum

Practical Life

Children learn how to function successfully in their own environment. They acquire independence, coordination, balance, muscular control and develop concentration skills.

Sensorial

The sensorial materials respond to the child’s sensitive periods for language and movement. The child develops and refines the five senses by classifying, contrasting, and comparing colour, shape, smell, sound, texture, temperature, and weight.

Language

Language work begins with Sandpaper Letters which introduces phonetic sounds and prepares the child for writing. The children move through materials that lead to reading and writing. Vocabulary, grammar, word study and creative writing are an integral part of our curriculum.

Math

The Montessori Math materials lay a sound number and geometry foundation. Math activities include numbers 1-10, the decimal system, teens & tens, memory work on addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication with an introduction to fractions.

Culture

Classroom materials introduce the children to our rich, cultural, and natural worlds of Geography, Science, Botany, Zoology, History, Art, and Music.

French

Weekly French lessons play a crucial role in expanding the children’s language skills. These engaging sessions introduce them to a diverse range of vocabulary associated with various themes, including colors, numbers, seasons, weather, plants, and animals. Lessons are interactive and creative, incorporating movement and song to enhance the learning experience. This dynamic approach reinforces their understanding of the language in a fun and memorable way.

Music

Weekly Music class provides students the opportunity to learn songs, experiment with musical instruments, and move their bodies to different rhythms and beats.
